Karya Sari is well-known for making some of Bali's most delicious palm sugar

Palm Sugar

Sugar Palms are quite common in Karya Sari and are the basis of many local farms. The sweet sap, known as "tuak," is harvested directly from the trees. This sap is then used to make both several products. The first is "gula merah," the delicious brown sugar used in a variety of local dishes as well as a lovely condiment for your morning coffee. Once tuak is distilled, it becomes the local Balinese spirit, "arak." Our tour is conducted by a guide and takes place right here in our village with local sugar farmers. Enjoy this hands-on experience and learn to make your own sugar.
